A good-natured kindergarten teacher, Troshkin, is a dead ringer for the hardened criminal, Dotsent, who stole the helmet of Alexander the Great at an archaeological excavation. The thief and his gang are caught by the police, but the priceless helmet remains hidden.  Dotsent is imprisoned in a different jail to his mates. Since Troshkin appears indistinguishable to Dotsent, the police plant him inside the prison undercover to mix with the real criminals in order to gain information about the stolen helmet. In order to convince his fellow inmates, the amiable but resourceful Troshkin must adopt the slang and the behaviour of the criminal classes. He stages an escape from the prison with two others, and eventually befriends them. His kindness and teaching experience have an unexpected effect on the hardened criminals. A delightful satire, full of memorable one-liners for the entire family.
