A modern remake of the Soviet comedy classic. A children’s party entertainer, Lesha Treshkin (Bezrukov), is recruited by an attractive police officer to pose as the notorious gangster Smiley (also Bezrukov) because he looks remarkably like him. Smiley has just stolen the Armour of the Golden Warrior, a Kazakhstan national treasure. Smiley and his gang are captured by the police but the Golden Warrior remains hidden and Smiley will not divulge its location. Treshkin is sent to Egypt and embedded in the same jail cell as Smiley’s criminal accomplices in order to obtain the relevant information. The sweet natured Treshkin is terrified. He has no knowledge of how criminals behave and he must convince the hardened crooks that he is the real Smiley. He leads them on a daring escape and through a series of misadventure in Egypt as the merry gang desperately try to return to Russia. The three escapees become good friends, but when the real Smiley breaks out of jail, all hell breaks loose.
