Inna (Maria Shalaeva) is a vibrant young lady with a lively sense of humour. She is in love with the most wonderful young man – Mitia - her six-year old son. They have a lovely, warm, intimate relationship that is playfully and authentically silly.  Unexpectedly Inna is diagnosed with an incurable disease. As a single mother she realises that she must find adoptive parents for her son before she dies. The film explores Inna’s preparations for the inevitable: from making a video promoting her son to interviewing a range of would-be parents with some very unusual and clearly inappropriate couples attempting to win her favour. Those interviews are wonderfully lively and give a strong sense of what it must feel like to find replacement parents. The home-movie quality of the video that Inna makes to promote her son built up of all that fragments of his life over the past six years is a key to the filmmaking style that is intimate and spontaneous. A winner at last year’s prestigious Russian film festival Kinotavr, this is a wonderfully subtle and deeply moving film that despite the subject matter is surprisingly uplifting.
