Finally, a masterful romantic comedy comes out of Russia to challenge the best of the French. It seems that Shura has not achieved anything in life that would make him happy. He did not make it as an actor and leaves the theatre even before the curtain call. He did not make it as a husband and father: his son is far away and his wife is still living with him only out of habit. He did not even make it as a friend – the only person he is close to despises Shura and makes advances to his wife. One night on his way home from the theatre, a car accident changes all that. A fresh infatuation emerges alongside a new business opportunity where Shura is suddenly able to put words into the mouths of those he observes, wrap them round his little finger and change their destiny forever. Shura is now, the Man at the Window. This film is about the vagaries of love and the acute observation of human drama. But more than anything it is about performance and the power of great acting and how it can change peoples' lives for the better.
